XyliTUFF™ Labels

XyliTUFF™ labels are chemical resistant labels designed for the long-term identification of microscope slides used in histology and cytology labs. These solvent resistant labels are ideal for the identification of microscope slides, used during histochemical tissue staining, tissue cassettes, routinely used in wax embedding and biopsy sample processing, slide boxes as well as other containers. We recommend using our TC-class of xylene resistant ribbons to obtain a printout that is resistant to xylene, toluene, hexane, acetone, alcohols, dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), methyl ethyl ketone (MEK), acetonitrile (ACN) as well as other chemicals and solvents.

Coated with a permanent chemical resistant adhesive, the labels retain their adhesion, even in the harshest environments. Intended for use on flat surfaces, when applied to microscope slides, these solvent-resistant labels along with their printout can withstand immersion in xylene for up to 15 hours and boiling water (100°C, 30 minutes). Moreover, on smooth surface frontal cassettes, they are able to withstand exposure and immersion in 100% ethanol (8 hours), as well as (65°C) hot paraffin wax and xylene (2 hours).

XyliTUFF™ labels are also resistant to standard gas sterilization with ethylene oxide (759 mg/L for 1 hour, at 55°C, and 40-80% relative humidity). In addition, they resist continuous wiping and rubbing with surface sanitizing wipes such as Sani-Wipe™, Eco-Wipe™ and Eco-Wipe™ Duo. We recommend additional preliminary testing prior to use with small surface tissue cassettes, vacuum tissue processors, and automated histology slide stainers.

Compatible with all major commercially available thermal transfer barcode printers, these chemical resistant histology labels can be printed with alphanumeric text, 1D and 2D barcodes and serialized numbers.
